How To Measure A Man

“The true measure of a man is how he treats someone who can do him absolutely no good.”
– Samuel Johnson
Now that the genesis of what I believe is an opportunity for personal growth has begun, what’s the next step? Reading “Where Do We Go From Here?” by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as found in the book, A Testament Of Hope, will provide some valuable insight. This treasure chest contains “The Essential Writings and Speeches of Martin Luther King, Jr.“ This must read is conveniently located in the sidebar section of my homepage for those of you who choose to add A Testament Of Hope to your library.

Great quote! In today’s world, people seem to be “measured” by all the wrong things….power, influence, etc. It’s nice to see someone bring up the point that the true measure of a person is something else…..something more real.

Hello Lillie,
Thank you for awarding me the Thinking Blogger Award!! I don’t know what I did to deserve this award and am currently at a loss for words. Imagine that.
Nevertheless, as soon as I can get caught up, I’ll respond to your request and tag five more thinking bloggers.

Hello Tony,
Thank you for commenting. I agree. It’s easy to look good when life is good, when everything we touch turns into gold, when the sun is shining.
When Adversity strikes, when our faith in God gets tested, when the ominous storms of life loom overhead, it will surprise us all to see how many people will remain standing.

Great post. Society paints a poor picture of true success. Our personal standards must be higher.

Hello Hajj,
Thank you.
I agree with you. Money and material things are poor indicators of one’s true success. Without love, nothing else matters.

Hi, have read much of what you wrote, I agree until one can love and respect themselves then and only then can they begin to love others. my personal favourite quotation is: “Todays Gratitude buys you tomorrows Happiness. I found this very comforting during my many dark hours. Happily I am through that episode in my life and have a positive outlook. I really enjoyed much of what you wrote and look forawrd to read some more as time permits me.
