“Nevertheless, there is at least one defining moment that occurs in the life of every generation when limit-testers, who honestly believe there are destined to become great, will choose to face their fears and embrace Change for the first time.” — Steppin’ Out Of The Darkness

After almost 2 years of waiting, what I’ve been calling “America’s Defining Moment” for 2008, has finally arrived. On Election Day 2008, American voters will get up and show up at polling locations to choose the 44th President of the United States Of America. During America’s Defining Moment, the whole world is watching America right now and anxiously waiting to see whether or not American voters will choose to face “our deepest fears,” overcome our biggest fears, and embrace Change. For our children’s sake, our generation cannot afford to get it wrong again.

Please click on “The Inspiration For Change if you’re a first-time visitor or just simply don’t remember what inspires Change.

For the first time, our generation can do something tangible to galvanize our fractured, financially faltering country, a country that has been racially polarized and emotionally divided from within for too long and for all the wrong reasons. For the first-time, our generation can achieve what the diligent descendants of our enslaved, albeit resilient, ancestors had enough faith in God to believe that the inspiring words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have A Dream” speech would one day become a reality.

One of my “Big Dreams” for 2008 was to live long enough to witness President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama walk side-by-side into their destiny by beating impossible odds and completing the task before them with God’s help. The Obama family has done their part to give all Americans a reason to remain hopeful, a reason to believe that better days are coming, a reason to believe that we can all achieve great things. Matters not the colour of the skin our gifted souls are wrapped within.

My wife, KWiz, and I voted early. We both chose to cast our votes for President Barack Obama. Now, it’s up to each and every one of us to do our part to help the Obamas make history today as we pray on bended knee. Together, we can begin the arduous process of tearing down the imaginary wall that has divided America from within. Imagine the endless parade of possibilities that will appear if we choose to honestly believe that our generation can “achieve greatness.” But be forewarned.

“To impede Change, the predatory employees of Ain’t Fairusee’s mega-corporation must keep you and your generation from achieving greatness. Since your antagonists still believe the end always justifies the means, choose the battles you fight and the paths you walk wisely.” — Steppin’ Out Of The Darkness

Since Power concedes nothing without a struggle, will you have the presence of mind to choose the path you walk and the battle you fight wisely? Can you stop going-along just to get-along with the spiritually-blinded status quo who remain shackled and chained to a “win-at-all-costs slave mentality?” During America’s Defining Moment, what will you choose to do when Adversity strikes, when your cars get booted and towed away, when poll workers lack the resources they need, when the ballots are printed incorrectly, when the weather refuses to cooperate, when the police set up road blocks to intimidate you? Think about it.

During America’s Defining Moment, will you choose to love loving one another instead of loving to hate another person just because of the colour of their skin? Will you choose to do the right thing by casting your vote for Senator Barack Obama because voting for Senator John McCain simply doesn’t pass the common sense test? Do you have the inner strength of character, the confidence, and the courage to cross politically divisive party lines and dance to the beat of a different drum? I hope so.

For the first time, our generation can choose to elect a brilliant person, who just happens to be a Black man, as the next Commander-In-Chief of the United States Of America. Imagine that! Only God truly knows whether or not the culturally diverse members of humanity’s global village will choose to walk together in peace by faith and work together as one for the greater good during “our journey towards greatness.”

During America’s Defining Moment, always expect the unexpected to happen when least expected. Matters not what happens next. Trust God.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

“The Inspiration For Change” Reposted

THE INSPIRATION FOR CHANGE

“Our generation’s fears of what’s lurking in the shadows of Change made Failure, Poverty, Rejection, and Violence our closest companions. But that was before Pain became greater than our individual fears of what follows seasons of Change. Until Pain inspired us to face our biggest fears and embrace Change, the strong and weak alike felt content to strike the same defiant pose behind our silent and violent peers just to avoid Rejection. But our vain efforts to avoid the inevitable failed. Without Pain to inspire Change, we found no reason to conquer our fear of Failure due to our constant failure to overcome Fear. Minus the inspiration for Change, our socially alienated souls never negated what emotionally divided the blended extended families of humanity’s global village from within.

Without Pain, nobody became strong enough to rise above the rim of self-imposed limitations just as the previous generations who never overcame their addiction to Pleasure. So, the weakest of the weak failed to become bold enough to speak those things that are not as though we had already achieved what our peers believed was impossible. Alas, it didn’t take long before the weakest of the strong forfeited the right to make better choices once Fear silenced our voices. Imagine how hopeless the weakest of the weak felt after hearing the rumor, half-truth, and true lie that only the strongest of the strong would survive the longest.

Nevertheless, Pain and Change kept working together for good until our generation realized that we could trust God without reservation. With all humility, we asked the Almighty to give us the strength we needed to beat impossible odds. So God made us struggle until the weakest of the weak became strong enough to keep risin’ after every fall. We kept embracing Change until we overcame the same fears you’re facing during your dark nights of the soul when all appears lost. Can you imagine how peaceful the world became once our generation stopped repeating the self-defeating cycle of self-destruction you’re trying to break?”

B.M.A.D.™ In 2008: NAACP Rally For Mr. Troy Davis

Quick question.  Have you ever sat in the “seat of the accused” after being “falsely arrested” and “falsely imprisoned” for a crime that both you, and your cowardly accusers, know you didn’t commit? Due to the violence of a false accuser’s fear-based “betrayal of silence,”  one too many “actually innocent” people have been mistakenly incarcerated and sentenced to death more often than we would like to believe.

Based upon what I’ve read recently and what was shared during the compelling discussions that aired today on Radio Station WAOK 1380AM, it appears that Mr. Troy Davis is just one of the many men who have been wrongfully incarcerated and sentenced to death on September 23, 2008 for a crime he didn’t commit.

Due to  the pervasive problems with America’s imperfect system of justice, I do not support the Death Penalty.  On September 11, 2008, a rally, sponsored by Amnesty International and the NAACP , for Mr. Troy Davis is scheduled to take place  on the steps of the “gold-domed” Georgia Capitol Building from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in Atlanta, Georgia.

Please click on the “highlighted words” in this post for links that will provide additional information and ways you can help save Mr. Troy Davis’ life.  If you know someone who’s been falsely arrested, or if you’ve ever personally sat in the “seat of the accused” as an actually innocent person, I hope to see you there tomorrow evening. The life you help us save today may be yours tomorrow.  Think about it.

Ms. Marvalus, author of “The Marvalus View,” was one of the first bloggers who chose to invest in an autographed copy of Steppin’ Out Of The Darkness, When Good People Become Great.

Manchild…

I finished reading your wonderful piece of work and I couldn’t wait to come over and tell you that it has inspired me beyond words!

I weep at the amount of inspiration you have given to me, and thank you for sharing this with us…I am going to do a write up on my site to share this book with my audience over the next couple of days…

Thank you again…blessings to you!” — Ms. Marva

This “revised” post now only contains the Prologue to Steppin’ Out Of The Darkness, “When Good People Become Great.” As time permits, I will begin posting brief excerpts from this introspective, inspirational story about “personal leadership” to inspire you to “face your fears and embrace Change.” Only then will you choose to take the next step necessary to make your “Big Dream” come true.

In the meantime, please feel free to peruse “The Archives” to see how far this humbled beginner has come by faith since January 1, 2007.  As many of you know, I didn’t “choose to write this book.” Over 10 years ago, this thought-provoking, 272 page book chose me.   If I can beat the odds with God’s help and choose to “keep risin’ to my feet after every fall I survived,” you can do the same.  The choice to do so will always be yours alone to make. So choose wisely.

“But by grace still go I.”

The Prologue“Always Expect The Unexpected”

Quick question. Did reading the Prologue to Steppin’ Out Of the Darkness inspire you to sit up in your seat and say “Hmmmm” upon first glance?  Hopefully, what you found has peaked your curiosity about what else you’ll find beneath this book’s cover.

When time permits, post a comment to let me know if you felt inspired you to “finish writing the vision” you prematurely abandoned in the “valley of sun-dried bones” sometime “after the fall” you survived.

I’ve posted Senator Barack Obama’s speech, “A More Perfect Union,” for those of you who still need a compelling reason to believe that this 2008 Presidential Candidate is a brilliant person who just happens to be a Black man whose time and season has come.

There’s absolutely nothing that Senator Obama’s critics can do to change the inevitable. Sit back in the safety and security of your own skin as you listen to Barack’s wise words prayerfully and carefully.

The failed attempts by the Clintons to “marginalize” Senator Barack Obama and “minimize” the accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. validated my honest belief that voting for Barack on “Super Tuesday” is the right thing to do. Obama is a courageous candidate, who just happens to be Black, that will give all Americans hope. Matters not what ethnicity, what gender, what political affiliation, what generation, or what income bracket you claim.

Unlike Senator Hillary Clinton, Senator Obama spoke truth to power in love when the majority of our political leaders believed the infamous lie President Bush told to justify a war that has bankrupted our children’s future. Obama got it right when he refused to go-along just to get-along with the status quo who got it wrong once again. Americans are not the only great nation of great people who desperately need Change that we can all believe in. The whole world is watching and waiting to see what will happen during what will become America’s defining moment in 2008.

The words, ” I see your true colors shining through,” came to mind while watching the Clintons execute their failed character assassination of the only 2008 Presidential Candidate whose time and season I believe has finally come. Their publicly televised, fear-based actions reminded me of what frequently happens privately to Black men who boldly stand in the way of powerful people precariously perched in positions of influence. The end does not justify the means. Never did. Never will.

Together, we, as Bloggers For Barack Obama, can make a difference by casting our votes for Senator Obama on Super Tuesday. As one of the many bloggers, who are not ashamed to publicly stand with Senator Barack Obama, I honestly believe that we can impact the ultimate outcome of the 2008 Presidential election process.

Together, we can beat the odds and achieve what Obama’s opponents refused to believe was possible before now if we choose to walk together in peace and work together as one for the greater good of humanity’s global village. Do you believe? I hope so. We can’t afford to get it wrong again.

What The Almighty Asks Of Us All

“He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, and to love kindness and mercy, and to humble yourself and walk humbly with your God?”

Micah 6:8 The Amplified Bible

1) Do what’s fair and just.

2) Love kindness and mercy.

3) Walk humbly before God.

Think about it. As always, the choice to do so is yours alone to make.

How To Stay Dressed Up, Not Stressed Out

12

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.” — Ephesians 6:10-20 kjv

Always remember that the final outcome of spiritual battles all God’s children choose to fight by faith, not by might, nor by power, or by sight, has already been predetermined and predestined. The perpetual spiritual war that’s raging amongst us as we speak has already been won by the King of kings and the Lord of lords.

So don’t allow yourself to get deceived by the “weapons of mass distraction” now trying to entertain us by lying to us in order to maintain the undivided attention of the masses. Don’t be deceived by the “smoke screen of superiority” created by a few misguided strokes from a pen in the mere mortal hands of myopic, misogynistic men who appear to have self-serving, hidden agendas.

Don’t let yourself, your families, your friends to get so stressed by the stroke of a pen that it provokes you, angers you, and pokes you in eyes until you become blinded by Rage. As you already know, any person who can blind you with rage can control you. Cooler heads must prevail so you will recognize the clear and present danger that awaits all who fail to choose the battles they fight and the paths they walk wisely until it’s too late to respond proactively and effectively.

Trust God. Lean not upon our limited understanding. Until the truth that desires to “make you free” prevails over the lie that desires to “make you a slave,” stay dressed up, not stressed out by all the billowing smoke coming from a perpetual spiritual battle too hot human hands to handle alone. Keep your eyes focused on the task at hand. When you’ve done all you can do, stand for something instead of falling for nothing.

Oh! Be forewarned. It’s not wise to stand like a sitting duck on a fence stuck between the diametrically opposed ideologies of all the people still standing with God and all the people still standing against God. I prayerfully petition you to “choose you this day” where you will take your stand during such an “emotionally divisive” season as this.

I, therefore, challenge each of you to choose love over hate and refuse to discriminate based upon the colour of a person’s skin instead of the “content of their character.” As always, the choice to “think critically” about where you will take your stand with the “spiritual weapon” in your hand, disguised as a pen, in your hand today is yours alone to make.
