Boast Not About Tomorrow

The title of today’s post comes from Proverbs 27:1. Why? This morning, I tried to get up, show up, and take the next step with our culturally diverse group that will bring us all closer to making our big dreams come as we help each other achieve great things in 2007. Unlike most mornings, my body had other plans and rebelled when I tried to rise to my feet. I couldn’t breathe deeply enough to talk, which hindered my ability to tell my wife, KWiz, what was wrong with me.

I had big productions plans for today but God had other plans for my day. So, off to the hospital I go to find out why my lungs were malfunctioning. Upon my arrival to the emergency room, I was immediately subjected to a plethora of lab tests and chest x-rays. Needles are always a part of the diagnostics one in my ailing condition must endure in order to draw blood samples from my uncooperative veins. Ouch!

The doctors and nurses determined that I had “acute bronchitis.” But by grace still go I, not the “Laws of Attraction.” If The Secret had anything to do with my unforeseen visit to the emergency room this morning, I will wait for God to reveal the reasons why my plans got delayed, but not denied.

Maybe, writing about “Tenacity” attracted an opportunity for me to prove to you that I can keep “pushing past the pain” as evidenced by the fact I still got up and showed up today. I guess Attila the Hun knew what he was talking about when he stated that Tenacity is indeed one of many essential leadership qualities.

God willing, and if the creek in my lungs doesn’t overflow again, I will meet you here tomorrow.

Who Am I?

I will lead the way of those who choose to follow down the path of Justice. I love those of you who love me. Seek me early and diligently if you expect to find me. Riches and honour are associated with me.

Yes. It’s true. Durable riches and righteousness are just two of my enduring rewards. What I produce is better than fine gold. My revenue is also better than choice silver. I will enable those who love me to inherit riches. I will also fill their treasuries.

Before the beginning of Time began to begin, the Lord owned me. Since the beginning, I was inaugurated and ordained from everlasting, or even before the earth ever existed.

“Proverbs 1:20 Wisdom cries aloud in the streets, she raises her voice in the markets; :21 She cries at the head of the noisy intersections [in the chief gathering places]; at the entrance of the city gates she speaks:

:22 How long , O simple one [open to evil], will you love being simple? And the scoffers delight in scoffing and [self-confident] fools hate knowledge?

:23 If you will turn (repent) and give heed to my reproof, behold, I [Wisdom] will pour out my spirit upon you, I will make my words known to you.[Isa. 11:2; Eph. 1:17-20.]

:24 Because I have called and you have refused [to answer], have stretched out my hand and no man has heeded it, [Isa. 65:11-12; 66:4; Jer. 7:13-14; Zech. 7:11-13.]

:25 And you treated as nothing all my counsel and would accept none of my reproof,

:26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when the thing comes that shall cause you terror and panic –

:27 When your panic comes as a storm and desolation and your calamity comes on as a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come upon you.

:28 Then will they call upon me [Wisdom] but I will not answer; they will seek me early and diligently but they will not find me. [Job 27:9; 35:12-13; Isa. 1:15-16; Jer. 11:11; Micah 3:4; James 4:3.]

:29 Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the reverent and worshipful fear of the Lord, [Prov. 8:13.]

:30 Would accept none of my counsel, and despised all my reproof,

:31Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way and be satiated with their own devices.

:32 For the backsliding of the simple [open to evil] shall slay them and the careless ease of the [self-confident] fools shall destroy them. [Isa. 32:6.]

:33 But whoso hearkens me [Wisdom] shall dwell securely and in confident trust and shall be quiet, without fear or dread of evil.”
